TOKYO – Hotel Okura Co., Ltd. today confirmed the forthcoming launch of its inaugural Okura Resort property within Japan, to be situated in the prominent hot spring destination of Hakone Gora. This significant development is the outcome of an operational management agreement executed on July 11, 2025, between Hotel Okura and Nishimatsu Construction Co., Ltd., the development partner.
Scheduled for completion in 2029, the Okura Resort Hakone Gora will be strategically positioned in a region annually frequented by nearly 20 million visitors, capitalizing on the area’s rich thermal springs and scenic mountain landscape. The property is conceived to integrate the local environment with Okura’s distinctive standard of hospitality, known as omotenashi.
“The cultural and natural significance of this destination is unparalleled,” commented Toshihiro Ogita, President of Hotel Okura. “We are committed to delivering our bespoke hospitality experience in a location that deeply embodies Japan’s profound heritage and natural splendor.”
The resort’s design, guided by the “Forest Hideaway” concept developed by designer Gwenael Nicolas, will incorporate 58 meticulously appointed guest rooms. A key feature will be private outdoor hot spring baths in every room, utilizing waters sourced from the Owakudani Hot Spring. Amenities will further include comprehensive indoor bathing facilities, a fine dining establishment specializing in teppanyaki, and a sophisticated bar lounge, ensuring an elevated retreat experience.
