In a reaffirmation of their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, Vietnam and France have committed to enhancing their collaboration across various sectors including diplomacy, trade, defense, energy, technology, and infrastructure. During recent discussions held in Hanoi, both nations evaluated the progress made in their bilateral relations and agreed to expedite the implementation of their partnership action plan.
Vietnam has emphasized the need for increased cooperation in key areas such as defense, cybersecurity, nuclear energy, science and technology, critical minerals, and large-scale infrastructure projects. The Vietnamese government also called on France to hasten the ratification of the EU–Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA) and to continue efforts in lifting the European Union’s “yellow card” warning on its seafood exports.
France, recognizing Vietnam as a significant strategic ally in the Asia-Pacific region, expressed its intent to broaden cooperation in nuclear energy, rare earth elements, satellite technology, transportation infrastructure, healthcare, and cultural exchanges. The French government highlighted these areas as pivotal for expanding their strategic partnership.
Both countries have also pledged to enhance their coordination on regional and global issues. They underscored their commitment to promoting multilateralism, dialogue, and sustainable development, which aligns with their shared objectives on the international stage.
